Traded three times in his career and twice during the offseason, Myles Jaye is settling in as a member of the Detroit Tigers' organization.
Jaye, the Tigers' No. 24 prospect, was brilliant on Saturday as he fired 8 1/3 innings of two-hit ball and set a new career best with 11 strikeouts to help pace Double-A Erie in a 1-0 shutout over Akron. He induced nine ground-ball outs and did not issue a walk, throwing 64 of his 98 pitches for strikes.

"I threw a lot of strikes," Jaye told MiLB.com. "Obviously, not walking anybody helps out the pitch count. I commanded my fastball well, and my slider's been really good in the last two starts and it was probably the best it's been all year. When I got two strikes, I was able to execute and put those guys away."
But 24-year-old right-hander's night began ominously, as he allowed a leadoff double to Jordan Smith in the bottom of the first. He retired the next 25 hitters he faced before yielding a softly hit single to Ivan Castillo with one out in the ninth inning. That knock spelled the end of Jaye's night, and closer Joe Jimenez (Tigers' No. 8) replaced him on the mound to nail down the final two outs for his 19th save (in 19 tries) and preserving the SeaWolves' shutout.
"[After the leadoff double], I just have to limit the damage and don't try to be perfect and let things pile up on you," said Jaye. "I was able to get two outs with him only getting to third base and from then on, it's full attack mode, trying to put up a zero.
"I'll try to build off tonight and take the things that I did well. I still did some things not so well. I got behind in counts early but was able to get them to pound the ball into the ground and get out of situations. I'm going to stick to the routine and try to get on a roll here and see if we can throw up some more zeros."
Originally a 17th-round Draft pick of the Blue Jays in 2010, Jaye was traded to the White Sox in January 2011 as part of the deal for reliever Jason Frasor. He spent parts of four seasons in the White Sox system before heading to Texas in exchange for John Lamb in December 2015. In March, the Rangers flipped Jaye to the Tigers along with Bobby Wilson to land catcher Bryan Holaday.
Jaye's gem on Saturday lowered his season ERA to 3.78 through 112 innings (19 starts) for Erie, during which he's registered 95 strikeouts against 26 walks.

• No. 24 overall prospect Gleyber Torres reached base five times and drove in four runs for Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach, which defeated Winston-Salem in 12 innings, 12-10. The Cubs' No. 1 prospect hit a pair of doubles, giving him 20 for the season, and also coaxed three walks en route to finishing 2-for-4 at the plate. He also picked up his 18th stolen base in the contest.
• No. 38 overall prospect Brent Honeywell (Rays' No. 2) fired 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball in his second start for Double-A Montgomery, scattering seven hits and striking out six against Tennessee. Jake Bauers (Rays' No. 5) powered the Biscuits to a walk-off win with his solo shot with two outs in the ninth.

• No. 91 overall prospect Alex Verdugo (Dodgers' No. 6) connected on his 10th and 11th home runs as he went deep in both games of Double-A Tulsa's doubleheader against Arkansas. Despite celebrating his 20th birthday in mid-May, the outfielder has been anything but overmatched this season in the Texas League, hitting an even .300 with 27 extra-base hits and 49 RBIs over 81 games.

• Blue Jays No. 6 prospect Richard Urena homered in his second straight game for Class A Advanced Dunedin as he went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in a win over Bradenton. The 20-year-old shortstop has been on a tear since the calendar flipped to July, hitting .415/.424/.600 over 15 games this month.
• Brewers No. 6 prospect Gilbert Lara paced Rookie-level Helena's offense in a 13-run, 16-hit win against Ogden, hitting a bases-clearing double in the first inning before later adding a two-run homer -- his first of the season. With his five RBIs in the contest, Lara, 18, has now plated seven in 23 games for Helena.
• A's No. 7 prospect Chad Pinder enjoyed his third career multi-homer game and first at the Triple-A level as Nashville shellacked El Paso, 19-5. The 24-year-old shortstop hit a pair of two-run homers -- his 11th and 12th of the season -- and scored three times, finishing 3-for-5 at the plate.
• Speaking of two-homer games, D-backs No. 7 prospectPeter O'Brien hit a pair of homers for Triple-A Reno for the third time this season in a win over Oklahoma City. The 26-year-old slugger now ranks second in the Pacific Coast League with 20 home runs, and he's gone deep 24 times in 80 games this season between the Minor and Major Leagues.
• In extending his hitting streak to 35 games, Indians No. 8 prospect Francisco Mejia hit his first home run for Class A Advanced Lynchburg and scored three runs as the Hillcats rolled past Wilmington, 15-4. The 20-year-old switch-hitter finished 3-for-6 at the plate in what was his 15th multi-hit performance during his streak, which began back on May 27.
• Making his second start since returning from the big leagues, Pirates No. 17 prospectSteven Brault fired six no-hit innings for Triple-A Indianapolis but received a no-decision as Louisville rallied to win in 10 innings. The 24-year-old southpaw struck out seven and issued two walks, throwing 51 of his 75 pitches for strikes.

• Yankees No. 19 prospect Chance Adams extended his hitless innings streak to 11 for Double-A Trenton before surrendering a leadoff double in the second inning -- the only hit he'd allow in the game. The 21-year-old went on to strike out eight over six scoreless frames to push his scoreless-innings streak to 16, though the Thunder ultimately fell to Reading, 4-1.
