VERO BEACH, Fla. — The NABA Florida World Series is in full-swing at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, with nine teams from seven states competing for the title.

NABA, the National Adult Baseball Organization, is one of the fastest growing adult baseball organizations in America, with tournaments organized throughout the country each year. NABA teams are organized into seven different age divisions, providing a competitive environment for all the participants.

The nine teams playing in the Florida World Series hail from New Jersey, Texas, Tennessee, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Florida. Participants are staying at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex hotel villas as well as throughout town, for a truly immersive experience.

NABA is a competitive league, not a typical recreational league. NABA players have varying levels of playing experience, from college and pro ball, to players with high school or some college experience, and to players without that level of experience but who simply love to play the game. The age divisions range from 18-and-over to 60-and-over years of age.

This year, former Major League pitcher Lance Davis is playing in the NABA Florida World Series. Davis, originally from Winter Haven, Fla., was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 16th round of the 1996 Free Agent Draft. In 2001 he started 20 games for the Reds, going 8-4.

Last year the Melbourne Beach (Florida) Orioles team featured the Flutie brothers, Doug and Bill. Doug, the famed Heisman Trophy Award winner, played professionally for NFL, CFL and USFL. As the Boston College quarterback, his “Hail Flutie” touchdown pass is considered one of the all-time greatest collegiate football and American sports history moments.
