MILWAUKEE – The Nationals began a stretch of 17 games in 17 days with a 7-3 comeback win over the Brewers Friday night at American Family Field.

Tied 3-3 entering the ninth, CJ Abrams got on base in the leadoff at-bat when he was hit by a pitch from Trevor Megill.

Former Brewer Joey Wiemer laid down a bunt toward third base and beat out the throw to put runners on first and second with no outs. With a hit probability of only 30 percent, Wiemer hustled at a sprint speed of 29.5 feet per second (30 feet/second is “elite”).

Luis García Jr. put the Nationals on top with a single into center field that drove in Abrams.

The Nats didn’t let up against Megill. Jorbit Vivas, Drew Millas and James Wood tacked on three more runs to give the Nationals a commanding lead for the bottom of the frame.

Washington snapped a two-game losing streak. This was their third comeback victory of the season, and they improved to 1-1 on the season when tied after the eighth inning.
