BALTIMORE -- The Nationals could be getting some reinforcements for their bullpen soon, with right-handers Shawn Kelley and Koda Glover each nearing a return from the disabled list.

Glover, who is on the DL with a left hip impingement, will begin a Minor League rehab assignment with Double-A Harrisburg on Wednesday. And manager Dusty Baker said Kelley, who is recovering from a lower back strain, is feeling great after his first bullpen session on Monday and indicated Kelley could come off the DL when eligible on Friday.

Glover and Kelley are the two pitchers the Nats named their co-closers last month, and Baker has been tasked with matching up the later innings to secure the final outs.

Kelley would be the primary option having converted three saves on the year, but the Nats want to manage his workload considering he has undergone two Tommy John surgeries in his career. But after missing a few days with an illness, Kelley landed on the DL on May 5 (retroactive May 2) after his back tightened up.

Glover would have been the backup option on days Kelley could not pitch, but he went on the DL on April 26. He was eligible to return on Saturday, but the Nats wanted him to throw another bullpen session.

"He's so happy to go," Baker said. "He said he will see us next week or before that."

Worth noting

• Infielder Stephen Drew is also expected to begin a Minor League rehab assignment this weekend to recover from a right hamstring strain. He has been on the DL since April 12.

"We miss Drew big time," Baker said. "I told Drew last night, 'Man, I sure do miss you.' Because he plays all four infield positions and plays them well, and he's another big bat off the bench when he's not playing."
