These Nats prospects are impressing in the Arizona Fall League

The Arizona Fall League celebrated its All-Star festivities this weekend, and Nationals prospects were among those picked for the special events.

Outfielder kicked the showcase off on Saturday by participating in the Home Run Derby.

Shortstop and southpaw then took the field Sunday for the Fall Stars Game. Outfielder also was a candidate for a final spot in that exhibition.

SS Seaver King (No. 7)

AFL All-Star Game

King entered the AFL looking to establish consistency following his first full season in the pros. The 2024 10th overall pick has found it. Through the first 17 games, King slashed .361/.467/.574 with a 1.041 OPS. He collected five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 24 RBIs and six stolen bases. King ranked in the top 10 of qualified AFL players in runs (2nd), RBIs (2nd), triples (tied for fourth), slugging percentage (8th), doubles (tied for 8th) and OPS (9th).

LHP Jake Bennett (No. 10)

AFL All-Star Game

This has been an anticipated AFL for Bennett, a 2022 second-round Draft pick who missed the ‘24 season because of Tommy John surgery. Through Saturday, Bennett was 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in five games (four starts). He led the AFL in strikeouts (25) and innings pitched (20).

OF Ethan Petry (No. 8)

AFL Home Run Derby

Petry held his own as the only player from the 2025 Draft class participating in the AFL just months after being selected in the second round. He took his power from South Carolina to Scottsdale and was named to the Home Run Derby, where he crushed 12 homers. Petry slashed .236/.408/.309 with a .717 OPS, 11 runs scored, 10 RBIs, one homer and two stolen bases in the first 17 games.

OF Sam Petersen (No. 24)

Candidate All-Star roster spot via “Fall Stars Final 2 Vote” fan selection

After dealing with injuries this season, a healthy Petersen is slashing .304/.394/.554 with a .948 OPS, five doubles and three home runs (tied-6th in AFL) in his first 16 games. The 2024 eighth-round pick earned weekly AFL honors in Week 4 for batting .421 with two homers, two doubles and five RBIs during that six-game stretch.
