Kieboom goes boom thrice for Hagerstown

Nationals No. 4 prospect hits three homers on same day as Rendon

April 30th, 2017

While was going 6-for-6 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in a historic game for the Major League club, Nationals 2016 first-round Draft pick Carter Kieboom was putting together an amazing performance of his own in the Minors.
Kieboom went 5-for-7 and blasted three homers for Class A Hagerstown on Sunday, also doubling, scoring four runs and driving in five runs in a 22-4 blowout of the Lexington Legends, the Royals' Class A affiliate.

Kieboom's five hits, three homers, five RBIs and four runs scored all established career highs for the Nationals' No. 4 prospect.
"It was just one of those days," Kieboom told MiLB.com. "Sometimes baseball is a crazy sport. Sometimes you wake up and you get in the box and it just happens."
The 19-year-old shortstop had already been hitting well in his first full season in the Minors, but Sunday's monster performance more than doubled his season home run total -- from two to five -- and also raised his batting average more than 30 points, from .297 to .333.
• Box score
Drafted 28th overall out of Walton High School in Marietta, Ga., Kieboom was regarded as one of the best high school hitters in his Draft class. He now has one more homer in 21 games this season than he did in 36 games in the Gulf Coast League last year, his first professional experience.
Kieboom was one of four Suns to notch five hits in a game in which Hagerstown pounded out 30 hits in total.

Sheldon Neuse, Washington's No. 6 prospect, went 2-for-6 with his third homer. Anderson Franco, the Nats' No. 15 prospect, also had a big game, going 4-for-6 with four runs scored, a walk, two doubles, a homer and five RBIs. Nick Banks, the organization's No. 25 prospect, went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two walks.
