Yankees announce Opening Day roster

The Yankees finalized their roster on Sunday ahead of their Opening Day tilt against the Astros. New York will carry 12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders, four outfielders and one designated hitter.
The 12 pitchers are: right-hander Johnny Barbato, right-hander Dellin Betances, right-hander Luis Cessa, right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, left-hander Andrew Miller, right-hander Ivan Nova, right-hander Michael Pineda, left-hander CC Sabathia, right-hander Luis Severino, left-hander Chasen Shreve, right-hander Masahiro Tanaka and right-hander Kirby Yates.
Brian McCann and Austin Romine will be the two catchers, while Dustin Ackley, Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Chase Headley, Mark Teixeira and Ronald Torreyes are the six infielders on the roster.
Carlos Beltran, Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner and Aaron Hicks will be a part of the outfield core, while Alex Rodriguez will act as the designated hitter.
The Yankees also placed infielder Greg Bird, pitcher Bryan Mitchell and outfielder Mason Williams on the 15-day disabled list.
