PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies like to think they won twice Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park.
Only the second victory -- the one that came after midnight -- counted.
"Two walkoffs in one game," Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins said after a 9-8 victory over the Marlins in 15 innings, which lasted 4 hours, 57 minutes. "Bizarre is the best word to describe it."

The Phillies ripped Hyun Soo Kim's jersey off his body and dumped a container of gum over his head at first base as they celebrated what they thought was his game-winning, pinch-hit single in the ninth. But the Marlins thought Giancarlo Stanton had thrown out Cesar Hernandez at the plate, keeping the game tied. They challenged the play, and the call got overturned. Hernandez was out and the game went to extra innings.

"We never thought it was over," Marlins infielder Miguel Rojas said. "I understand they got excited because it's a walk-off, you want to be on the field, you want to run after the guy."
"That was a first for me," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. "Different. Replay."
Marcell Ozuna crushed a solo homer to left-center field in the top of the 10th to hand the Marlins an 8-7 lead.

However, Hoskins hit a solo homer to center in the bottom of the inning to tie it at 8. It was Hoskins' second homer of the game and 16th homer of the season.
"He's an alien. He's not human," Phillies right fielder Nick Williams said. "That's not real. That's crazy. And I'm hitting behind him, too, and I'm just constantly watching him and I'm like, 'Oh, my god."'

Aaron Altherr reached on an infield single in the 15th. Williams followed with a double into the left-field corner to score the winning run, giving them their second walk-off celebration.
"I think that's the first time in the history of baseball that that's taken place," Williams said.
"That guy is pretty good himself, too, so I guess we can be alien friends," Hoskins said.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Don't run on Stanton: The Phillies tried to run on Stanton and it cost them on three different occasions. Williams tried to stretch a single into a double in the fifth, but replay overturned a safe call for an out at second. J.P. Crawford tried to stretch a double into a triple, but Stanton got the ball to Dee Gordon. His throw beat Crawford to third. And, of course, Stanton threw out Hernandez at the plate in the bottom of the ninth to keep the game tied.

Alfaro can't handle it:Justin Bour scored runs in the second and sixth innings on doubles from Realmuto. Twice, the Phillies had plays at the plate, but Phillies catcher Jorge Alfaro could not handle either throw. He missed relay throws from Freddy Galvis both times.
"Those were two important runs," Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said. "The one ball short-hopped him. The other ball, he could have reached in a little farther and gotten in front of it. You have to catch the ball. But it's still a tough play. I'd like to see a perfect strike thrown in there."

"My biggest disappointment was that Hoskins didn't hit his third home run to win the game. That kind of disappointed me." -- Mackanin, joking about Hoskins' two-homer game.

Phillies right-hander Nick Pivetta allowed seven runs in five innings to fall to 5-11 with a 6.75 ERA. It is the second-highest ERA among rookies with 20 or more starts in a season since 1899. Colby Lewis had a 7.30 ERA in 26 starts with the Rangers in 2003.
INSTANT REPLAY
The Marlins challenged Williams' double to right field in the fifth. Williams initially appeared to beat the throw from Stanton, but replay showed that shortstop Miguel Rojas tagged him before he reached the bag. Williams was credited with a single.

They also challenged Hernandez's run in the ninth. Replay showed that Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto tagged him before he touched the plate. He was out.
WHAT'S NEXT
Marlins: Miami sends Dan Straily (9-8, 3.95 ERA) to the mound for his fifth start against the Phillies this season. He's 3-1 in those games with a 4.76 ERA.
Phillies:Aaron Nola (10-10, 3.71) makes his 25th start of the season Wednesday night against the Marlins at Citizens Bank Park. Nola has struggled recently, posting a 6.59 ERA in his past five starts. Two of those starts have come against the Marlins. He is 0-3 with a 10.67 ERA in three starts against them this season.
