The Kansas City Royals completed the third and final day of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft today, selecting a total of 41 players.
The Royals selected 18-year-old Nick Pratto, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound first baseman from Huntington Beach high school in California, with their first-round pick (14th overall) on Monday.
Kansas City selected two local products: a left-handed pitcher Jordan Floyd (Topeka, Kan.) in the 10th round out of Kansas State University and catcher Justin Mitchell (Platte City, Mo.) in the 39th round out of Platte County high school.
In the 32nd round, the Royals selected right-handed pitcher Andrew Beckwith (Coastal Carolina University), who was named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List in February. He went 15-1 in 2016, when he was named the Most Outstanding Pitcher of the College World Series.
With their 38th-round pick, the Royals selected Montae Bradshaw (Patrick Henry CC), the son of Royals' Hitting Coordinator, Terry Bradshaw. In the 40th round, the Royals selected shortstop Yaniel Ramos (Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy), the grandson of Johnny Ramos, the scout who signed Carlos Beltran.
