BALTIMORE -- Rest looks like it has rejuvenated Tyler Wilson.

The O's righty, who was sent down to Triple-A to get "crisp" before the All-Star break, tossed four perfect innings and was a bright spot in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Rockies.

"I though Tyler was outstanding," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said of the outing. "Really gave us a blow down there in the bullpen."

Wilson, making his first appearance since his July 2 start -- in which he allowed eight earned runs over three innings -- came on following O's starter Chris Tillman. He made quick work on the Rockies in the sixth and was able to save the rest of Baltimore's relief corps with his terrific 40-pitch outing.

"That's always great, the first time you get out there and get your feet wet again and get the adrenaline pumping and just find that rhythm again," said Wilso, who ended the top of the ninth with a full-count punch-out of Daniel Descalso for one of his three strikeouts. "There's no experience that can actually compare to being out there and being in the game. So the outings down in [Triple-A] Norfolk, I felt good and I was working on some things, and they were productive outings. And I was happy to be able to put some things together, to string together some good innings, get some outs and give our team some momentum hopefully going into tomorrow."

It marked Wilson's first Major League relief outing since April 19. He has allowed one earned run in 12 relief innings and, if Tuesday is any indication, could be primed for a great second half.

"Some arm fatigue going on there [earlier]. Just from the stress of Major League innings. ... He came into Spring Training, wanted to be operating on all cylinders which he was," Showalter said. "Talking with [pitching coach Dave Wallace, bullpen coach Dom Chiti and head trainer Richard Bancells], I felt like we could freshen his arm up and his whole body."

"He's got a great frame on him, I just think it will benefit him. Hopefully tonight is a sign."
