Oakland A's to host Root Beer Float Day during upcoming homestand

The Oakland A's will host their 19th annual Root Beer Float Day, presented by A&W, at the Coliseum on Sunday, July 1, when the team plays host to the Cleveland Indians for a 1:05 p.m. matchup.

The Oakland A's will host their 19th annual Root Beer Float Day, presented by A&W, at the Coliseum on Sunday, July 1, when the team plays host to the Cleveland Indians for a 1:05 p.m. matchup. Celebrity scoopers, including A's coaches, players, and alumni, will serve root beer floats to fans for a donation to the Oakland A's Community Fund. 
The homestand begins with Bark at the Park, presented by AvoDerm Natural & Nylabone, during the Friday, June 30, game. Fans can bring their furry friends to the ballpark for a pregame party and Pup Parade on the field. The homestand will also include a Dave Stewart action figure giveaway (June 30), Military Appreciation Day with patriotic fireworks (July 3), and an Independence Day afternoon game (July 4).

Bark at the Park: The A's will host their annual Bark at the Park, presented by AvoDerm Natural & Nylabone. All dogs and owners who have purchased a special ticket are invited to a pregame party in A Lot and a Pup Parade on the field. A portion of proceeds will benefit Dogs4Diabetics and the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF). 
Chevrolet Youth Baseball Clinic: Prior to the game, the A's coaching staff will host 220 young athletes from North Oakland and South Oakland Little League (NOLL/SOLL) for a baseball workshop on Rickey Henderson Field. Courtesy of Chevrolet and the Bay Area Chevrolet dealers, participants will receive instruction on pitching, hitting, baserunning, and other skills, followed by an autograph session, photo opportunity, and lunch. 
Oakland A's Community Fund Silent Auction: The Oakland A's Community Fund Silent Auction can now be accessed digitally through the MLB Ballpark App. The Silent Auction will open at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 29, and end at 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday, July 4. The auction features signed and unsigned A's memorabilia as well as game-used items. Items will be displayed during the game until the 5th inning at the Community Corner at Section 218. 50th Anniversary Team presentation: As part of the 50th anniversary celebration, the A's will present Dick Green with his 50th Anniversary Team jersey at home plate before first pitch.  
Vida Blue autograph session: The A's 50th anniversary book will be sold on Championship Plaza from the time gates open until the end of the game. Vida Blue will sign books purchased by fans that day from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Root Beer Float Day: The A's will host the 19th annual Root Beer Float Day, presented by A&W, from 10:30 a.m. until the end of the 2nd inning in the Eastside Club and on Championship Plaza. A's manager Bob Melvin, current players - including Khris Davis, Sean Manaea, Marcus Semien, and Blake Treinen - and A's alumni are scheduled to appear and serve root beer floats to fans. Root beer floats and sugar-free floats will be sold for $5. A 32-ounce mug option will also be available for $20. A limited supply of 32-ounce mugs signed by Rickey Henderson will be sold for $50. All mug options come with unlimited refills. Additional funds will be raised through "tips" in exchange for autographs and pictures with the celebrity scoopers. All proceeds benefit the Oakland A's Community Fund. Rickey Henderson will also participate in a separate ticketed photo session for $30 during the event.
Pros vs. GI Joes: Following the game, A's players will meet military members and compete in a video game challenge.

Military Appreciation Day: All fans with a Military Appreciation Day special event ticket will receive an A's patriotic cap. To purchase a special event ticket, visit athletics.com/military.  
Operation Care and Comfort volunteer event: Chris Hatcher, Jonathan Lucroy, Blake Treinen, fans, members of the A's front office, and PG&E employees will team up for a volunteer event from noon to 2 p.m. at the Coliseum. The group will put together care packages that will be sent to military members in Afghanistan. 
50th Anniversary Team presentation: As part of the 50th anniversary celebration, the A's will present Mark McGwire with his 50th Anniversary Team jersey at home plate before first pitch.  
Bob Feller Act of Valor Award recognition: Prior to the game, A's pitcher Chris Hatcher will be recognized as a nominee for the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award, which recognizes players who demonstrate exemplary efforts in support of our servicemen and servicewomen. Hatcher works closely with Combat Warriors Inc., an organization that honors and provides emotional and financial relief for combat veterans. 
Check presentation: The A's will present USO Bay Area, Operation Care and Comfort, and Swords to Plowshares each with a $5,000 grant ahead of the game. 
Military Swear-In: The A's will host a swearing-in ceremony for 75 United States Army and United State Air Force recruits at 5 p.m. on Championship Plaza. After taking the oath of enlistment, the recruits and a guest are invited to enjoy the A's game. 
Patriotic Fireworks: Following the game, fans are invited to enjoy the postgame Patriotic Fireworks, presented by Chevrolet, from the outfield grass.
