NEW YORK -- Knicks forward OG Anunoby is a huge fan of former Mets shortstop José Reyes.
The two were able to meet on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field before New York played the Phillies.
First, they exchanged jerseys in a photo opportunity in the Mets’ press conference room. Then, after receiving a thunderous ovation from Mets fans for helping the Knicks win their first NBA title since 1973, Anunoby threw out the first pitch to Reyes.
It wasn’t bad. The throw from the 6-foot-7 Anunoby successfully reached home plate, with Ron Darling joking in the SNY booth that "he picked the right sport."
Anunoby is a huge baseball fan, noting during the pregame press conference that as a kid he played the video game, "MLB2K8," with Reyes on the cover. Reyes was one of his main guys in the game, and Anunoby would have Reyes steal bases, get a bunch of hits and win World Series titles.
"From there, he was my favorite player,” Anunoby said.
