CHICAGO -- Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis exited Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox due to an right oblique strain during the third inning. Davis will undergo an MRI Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.
The Orioles fell to the White Sox, 10-7.
"It looks like an oblique, but we'll see," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "Those things usually don't end well, but we'll keep some positive thoughts. It's different than the one he had a couple years ago. It's on the other side."
Davis, who was the last batter of the top half of the third, was replaced by Hyun Soo Kim in the bottom of the third. Kim moved to left field, and starting left fielder Trey Mancini took Davis' spot at first base.
Davis grounded out to second base and flied out to deep right with the bases loaded and a 2-0 deficit before leaving with the injury.
Showalter said he didn't expect an extended absence for Davis, even with the injuries mounting for his club.
"We don't live in that world," Showalter said. "Chris is a good player, but we've got some other good players that have an opportunity to step up. Just like every club. Everybody's got their challenges, including us."
