BALTIMORE -- Jonathan Schoop, Hyun Soo Kim and Adam Jones homered for the Orioles off of Rays ace Chris Archer, who gave up his first long ball of the season in Baltimore's 6-3 win Monday night.
The game -- which featured an 18-minute rain delay in the bottom of the eighth inning -- improved the Orioles to a Major League best 13-5.
"That's one of our best wins this year," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "Talking to the team before the game. Tough series over the weekend, you come here tonight and you know it's going to be cold and nasty. A lot of people probably look at the weather and not come. We were going to have to really be ready to play and our guys were. I was really proud of them tonight. That's a tough game to win and our guys figured out a way. That was impressive."
Archer, who allowed 30 homers in a down 2016, entered Monday with a pristine homer record in his first four starts. That changed in the bottom of the sixth inning as the O's went back-to-back, on Kim's first blast of the year and Schoop's fifth. Jones delivered the eventual game-winning homer for Baltimore in the seventh, sending the first pitch he saw from Archer out of the park at 108.3 mph for a two-run blast.

Archer surrendered a season-high five runs in the contest.
"In general, there was a few pitches I wish I could have back and that's baseball," Archer said. "So, going into my next start, I plan on executing at a higher level, even if it is just three or four more pitches that I have to execute. It has to be done."

Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez, coming off a season-high 7 2/3 scoreless innings, continued his erratic ways in lasting a season-low 3 1/3. Corey Dickerson went deep for a leadoff homer, and Player Page for Shane Peterson doubled in a pair of runs in the fourth. Jimenez walked five and gave up three hits and three runs on the night.

"My sinker was too short. I was trying to find a way to get it up in the zone, but I couldn't," Jimenez said. "Everything was breaking too short at home plate."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Archer done in by old foe: The righty, who entered the game 2-0 with a 3.20 ERA, looked human on Monday night. Archer, visibly displeased when he was removed after 6 2/3 inning,s also walked a season-high five batters as he struggled with command in the three-homer night.
Jones makes history, then a homer: Jones, who collected his 1,500th career hit with a fifth-inning single, put the O's on top in his next at-bat. His seventh-inning smash was his hardest-hit ball of the year according to Statcast™, and marked his fourth homer of the season.

"It means I've been playing this game at a high level for a while," Jones said, of reaching 1,500-hit territory. "Pretty special to share with all my teammates. It's a tribute to them pushing me when we stand on the field, and playing the game hard."

"Sitting out there in that cold and wind and rain and walking a lot of people, that's a real challenge. That's why I'm as proud of this game as any game we've played, because that tells you what kind of ballclub you've got a chance to have, when you fight your way through that. In the dugout, there's Adam acting like it's 70 degrees, a sunny day on Sunday with a full house. That's what separates him from a lot of people."

WU MAKES DEBUT
Chih-Wei Hu made his Major League debut, coming in after the rain delay to throw one scoreless inning. He gave up a sacrifice fly to Jonathan Schoop but threw the ball well in tough, cold conditions. He is the first Taiwan-born player in Rays history.
"I feel great. It's amazing. This is my first time [in relief]. I think I threw OK today," he said.
UNDER REVIEW
The Orioles challenged whether or not Peterson's one-out double in the fourth was fair or foul. The call on the field was upheld after a review of 1 minute, 49 seconds, and the Orioles lost their challenge as a result.

WHAT'S NEXT
Rays:Erasmo Ramirez will make his second start since getting re-inserted into the rotation when the Rays face the Orioles on Tuesday at Camden Yards in a 7:05 p.m. ET contest. He is 2-3 with a 3.38 ERA in 14 career appearances against the Orioles.
Orioles: The Orioles will send lefty Wade Miley to the mound for Tuesday's middle game. Miley is coming off a sensational outing in Cincinnati, where he went eight scoreless frames. The lefty's outing was the longest by a Baltimore starter this year.
