BALTIMORE -- A year ago, the home run was the Orioles' game. They had 253 long balls, and six players hit 20 or more. This year, they're still hitting lots of home runs, and on Sunday, they equaled a season-high with five home runs.
Jonathan Schoop, Chris Davis and Trey Mancini hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to get the Orioles off to a quick start in the first inning of a 12-3 win against the Tigers Sunday. Joey Rickard and Manny Machado added home runs in the fourth.
Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez allowed all five home runs.

"I don't know where we are compared to last year and is it because everybody else is hitting more or less? I don't even look at it," manager Buck Showalter said.
"It's about run production. Sanchez made some mistakes and our guys were on them. They made him pay for the mistakes he made. You knew the ball was going to be flying out of here today. For our pitching staff to only give up one [home run] is pretty remarkable."
Machado's home run was his 20th, and Adam Jones hit his 20th home run on Saturday night. Schoop's home run was his 25th
"It's fun. It's really fun. When you go back-to-back-to-back, you score some runs early," Schoop said. "It's fun when everybody's hitting, and especially when we win."
It's the seventh consecutive year that at least three Orioles have hit 20 home runs. Davis and Mancini both have 18, and Mark Trumbo, who's expected to come off the 10-day disabled list this week, has 17. It's a good bet that the Orioles will again have six players with 20 or more.
Jones has 20 or more homers in seven straight seasons. It's the third straight for Machado, who hit 35 and 37 in the previous two seasons, and the second in a row for Schoop.
The Orioles finished a 5-2 homestand, and still harbor postseason ambitions.
"We've been scuffling. We were scuffling for a while," Machado said. "Nothing's been going our way. We weren't hitting homers. It's just part of the game."

Machado's average has moved up to .257. Many of the hard-hit balls that were caught earlier in the year aren't being caught now.
"Hits are falling. Things are going well and we're playing well," Machado said. "We're playing as a team. People are getting on base. There are a lot of things that are clicking. It always helps when everyone's hitting."
The Orioles have 160 home runs and are on pace for 233 homers this season.
It was the first time the Orioles hit three consecutive home runs since Aug. 19, 2016. Machado, Davis and Trumbo hit three in a row, also in the first inning. The Orioles ended up losing that game, 15-8.
