O's Machado, Castillo in need of AS boost

June 20th, 2017

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles have struggled in the month of June, and Manny Machado and new Oriole 's All-Star chances are fading along with it. The pair, who each fell from third to fourth in their respective positions Tuesday, need your help to get to this year's Esurance MLB All-Star Game.
Machado, a three-time All-Star, has fallen from first place in Week 1 of voting to his lowest spot at fourth this week. He has been trailing both Minnesota's (1,302,090) and Cleveland's (891,7317), Toronto's Josh Donaldson (810,648) moved past him in the latest totals. Machado, who has had a slow start offensively, has 803,921 votes.
Machado, the fan-elected starter in 2016, would join Hall of Famers Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken Jr. as the only Orioles third basemen to earn multiple fan-elected starts.

Castillo, who has had a solid offensive season despite two trips to the disabled list, also slipped among AL catchers. He still trails Kansas City's (1,453,088) and the Astros' (1,051,138) and is now behind the Yankees' (1,045,471), possessing 926,455 votes.

Those are the only two O's in the top five in voting, with center fielder currently No. 14 among outfielders.
