Anthony Eyanson only had to wait a month to engage in some friendly competition against his former teammates.
And so on the same night that the deal that sent MLB’s No. 49 prospect to the Orioles paid dividends for his former organization, Eyanson showed the same was true for the other side by striking out eight without a walk over six innings of one-run ball in Double-A Chesapeake's eventual 5-4 loss to Portland at Prince George's Stadium.
Three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman, the key piece in the blockbuster trade, homered twice for the Red Sox in his return to Baltimore. Meanwhile, Eyanson impressed yet again for his new club against his old mates, throwing 91 pitches -- 61 for strikes.
Now the Orioles' No. 2 prospect, Eyanson has racked up 40 strikeouts to just eight walks over 27 innings since the Trade Deadline move. The right-hander has at least seven strikeouts in all five of his outings for the Baysox.

The 2025 third-rounder features a pair of plus pitches (fastball, slider) and has embraced the chance to attack hitters in 2026. While with the Sea Dogs, Eyanson struck out 60 while posting a 1.69 ERA over 48 innings.
The 21-year-old's run of success has all come within his first season as a professional. He did not pitch after being drafted last summer and started this year's campaign at High-A Greenville.
Through 21 appearances (20 starts) overall, Eyanson sports a 1.51 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP while opponents have hit just .168 against him.
