Keys to success for O's No. 5 prospect? Homer on same day as teammate

The best things come in threes and Wehiwa Aloy reaped the rewards of that notion Sunday.

The Orioles' No. 5 prospect connected on three long balls in his first multihomer game as a professional en route to High-A Frederick's 9-1 victory over Jersey Shore at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

Aloy, the 31st overall pick in the 2025 Draft, didn't start his milestone afternoon alone. The Keys hit back-to-back-to-back homers in the first inning off right-hander Sam Highfill (Phillies), who fired 12 pitches to the first three batters and surrendered three runs without an out.

Reed Trimble led off the bottom of the frame with his third homer of the season to left field. Then Aloy swatted his eighth of the season to left-center and fellow newcomer Ike Irish (BAL No. 4) lifted off on his sixth, also to left-center.

Selected just 12 picks apart, Aloy (Arkansas) and former SEC foe Irish (Auburn) continue to feed off each other. The Keys duo went yard in the same game for the fifth time this season. The two have combined for 16 homers across 27 contests. In games in which Irish has also homered, Aloy has gone 12-for-23 with nine extra-base knocks.

Aloy clubbed his next long ball to center field in the fourth off right-hander Ryan Degges. He sent his third solo shot of the day, this time off righty Titan Kennedy-Hayes, out to center as well.

In his junior season for the Razorbacks, Aloy clubbed a career-high 21 roundtrippers while compiling a slash line of 350/.434/.673 en route to scoring the Golden Spikes Award as the best amateur player in the country and SEC Player of the Year honors.

Over 20 games in his debut season last year at Single-A Delmarva, Aloy went yard twice. In just seven more contests through his first full pro campaign, the 22-year-old is already up to 10, boosting his slash line to .306/.355/.630 with 14 extra-base hits and 18 RBIs.

The Keys left the yard seven times Sunday, with first baseman Elis Cuevas also posting the first career multihomer game. As the balls fly out of the yard on Baltimore's farm, Aloy is the leading the charge as the first to reach double digits this season.
