Pearce to get second opinion on arm

September 13th, 2016

BOSTON -- Orioles outfielder will go to New York to get a second opinion on his right elbow/forearm issues. Pearce, who has been dealing with this issue all season, said he felt something again during a throw in Monday's 12-2 loss to the Red Sox.
"I think I'm just going to let it cool off for a day or two, but I also think we might get another look at it," said Pearce, who mentioned an MRI as a possibility. "It's just that when it flares up, it flares up. You've just got to let it die down. That's where we are right now."
Orioles reliever had a simulated game on Tuesday and he will take two days off and do it again later this week. If that goes well, O'Day could be added to the roster on Sunday or Monday.
"We want to see how he responds the day after. He's not out of the woods yet, but he's very close -- we hope," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said of O'Day, who has been sidelined with a right rotator cuff injury. "This is as close as we've gotten in a while. We've gotten a good return on it. I know there's not a whole lot of games left. [He] just needs to follow a certain protocol physically to make sure there's nothing. ... We plan on Darren being with us for a while, and we don't want to do something that's going to rush back and create another problem that could be averted."
