SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Orioles have acquired left-handed pitcher Edgar Olmos from the Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later.
The move was announced following Baltimore's 6-5 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Olmos appeared in four games for the Cubs this spring, allowing three runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings. Olmos, who was outrighted by Chicago on Feb. 16, was a non-roster invitee in camp. He will report to Minor League camp, but the Orioles still want to take a look at the 25-year-old.
Olmos spent the 2015 season with the Mariners, posting a 1-0 record with a 4.50 ERA in six Major League games (two starts).
Olmos is the O's second lefty acquisition in two days. With left-handed reliever Brian Matusz expected to go on the disabled list, Olmos gives them another option beyond Zach Phillips.
