Castillo exits with contusion on foul tip

O's catcher undergoes tests to determine extent of injury

TORONTO - Orioles catcher exited Monday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jays after one inning with a contusion and was later taken to a local hospital for further testing.

In the bottom of the first, Castillo was struck by a hard foul ball by in the groin area. Castillo was down on his knees while manager Buck Showalter and an Orioles trainer came out of the dugout, but Castillo caught the rest of the inning.

"The doctor on duty looked at it and they decided to get some tests," Showalter said after the game. "They're conducting those tests right now. He had that same issue before."

Earlier this season, Castillo was injured in a similar incident and went on the disabled list with a testicular injury.

"Sometimes you feel better to get away from it," Showalter said. "He was struggling when he came in, so we're going to have to err on the side of faith and see what the test results come back as."

replaced Castillo in the second. Catcher is also on Baltimore's expanded roster.
