SAN DIEGO -- FanFest rolled into Petco Park on Saturday, and the Padres capped it by putting on a power show for the 12,000-plus Friar faithful in attendance.
After a morning filled with meet-and-greets and autograph sessions, the Padres took batting practice in front of a packed left- and right-field lower level.
Padres hitters didn't hold back either, distributing dozens of souvenirs.
"It's huge for them to show their support for us, and then for us to get to be able to go out and hang out with them for a little bit," catcher Austin Hedges said. "The more we can come together as a city -- we want to bring that winning culture here to San Diego, and the fans are just as big a part of that as we are."

Along with batting practice, several players joined young fans on the Wiffle Ball field at Park at the Park. Players took part in autograph signings, and fans enjoyed the Padres Hall of Fame beyond the left-field seats.
Then, several Padres players, broadcasters and executives took part in question-and-answer forums with the fans.
"The turnout is incredible," first baseman William Myers said. "Just to see the support, and to see the knowledge of the team that these fans have, it's great. I was out there listening to questions, and the knowledge the fans have is pretty wild."

The Padres open their season Monday at Dodger Stadium. The home opener is slated for Friday against the Giants.
"It's going to be fun," Myers said. "I'm excited for these fans to see what we have this year. ... It's going to be one of those things where you do see some mistakes made this year by our young guys. But those are going to turn into good things down the road. Experience is the best teacher, and all these young guys this year are going to get plenty of that."
