Padres lose six-run lead, fall in extra innings

April 28th, 2019

WASHINGTON – Eric Hosmer did his part to stake San Diego to a six-run lead, but a shaky start from Joey Lucchesi and an walk-off home run kept the Padres from the pulling off the sweep Sunday in a 7-6, 11-inning defeat at Nationals Park, ending their five-game winning streak.

Hosmer went 3-for-5 to continue his awakening from a slow start, delivering the big early blow with a three-run homer in the second inning, part of a four-run fourth that gave San Diego a six-run cushion. The first baseman went 6-for-14 in the series with two homers and four RBIs.
