WASHINGTON -- A day after their game against Washington was suspended, the Padres completed a victory over the Nationals on Sunday afternoon, picking up right where they left off by tacking on a few runs en route to a 10-4 victory at Nationals Park.

The game was suspended in the middle of the sixth inning on Saturday night after a shooting was reported outside the third-base gate at Nationals Park. It was officially suspended at 9:31 p.m. ET on Saturday before resuming at 1:08 p.m. ET on Sunday. The scheduled Sunday game between the two was pushed back until a half hour after the final out of the resumed game.

Right-hander Pierce Johnson, who was in the process of entering the game on Saturday when the incident occurred, resumed play with a scoreless sixth inning. The Padres tacked on two runs in the top of the seventh, giving them a 10-4 lead, and putting the game out of reach.

Fernando Tatis Jr. finished the game with a career-high-tying four hits and a trio of dazzling baserunning plays, all before the game was halted on Saturday. He flied out in his lone at-bat on Sunday afternoon.

The Padres’ 10 runs came after they set a franchise record with a 24-run outburst on Friday. Their 34 runs in a two-game stretch are the most in franchise history.
