Wake up to batting practice and have dinner in left field

Ever spend your spare time scrolling through Airbnb, dreaming of your next vacation escape? Well, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos have a new listing that should be an instant bookmark for baseball fans.

The Twins’ Double-A affiliate has listed Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, Fla., on Airbnb for $1,500 per night. Advertising the listing as the “ULTIMATE baseball experience” that will give fans “the most intimate, behind-the-scenes ballpark experience in history,” the club is offering a stay for up to 10 guests. A staff member will be stationed in the ballpark throughout the night to provide security and answer questions.

Amenities for this stay range far wider than air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Guests get access to the team’s clubhouse (complete with leather couches, flat screen TVs and a ping pong table) and batting cage, and they can stage BP sessions at home plate. Have dinner in the outfield, run the bases or re-enact a famous moment like Kirk Gibson’s home run, if you wish -- the night is up to you. And when you’re tuckered out, a large 10-bed bedroom next to the clubhouse will be there waiting.

The Blue Wahoos have kept their ballpark busy during the coronavirus pandemic, converting the diamond on weekends into a nine-hole disc golf course designed by part-owner and pro golfer Bubba Watson. And with live baseball still on hold, the club is opening up its ballpark at night to make some lucky fans’ dreams come true.
