Moylan gets Minor League deal with spring invite

Royals sign 37-year-old sidearmer with 2.83 career ERA

January 23rd, 2016

The Royals signed veteran relief pitcher Peter Moylan to a Minor League contract on Saturday and extended him an invitation to Spring Training.
Moylan, a 37-year-old right-hander, made 22 relief appearances for the Braves last season and allowed four earned runs over 10 1/3 innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter and held right-handed hitters to a .225 average.
Moylan didn't pitch in 2014 as he recovered from Tommy John surgery. A sidearm-throwing native of Australia, he owns a 2.83 career ERA over 331 games for the Braves and Dodgers, limiting righties to a .219/.277/.313 batting line.
