For the fifth straight year, the Phillies will be playing postseason baseball. It matches the longest streak in franchise history, 2007-2011.
The first two years of the current streak began in the National League Wild Card round, 2022 and 2023. Riding the brilliant starting pitching of Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola, the Phillies advanced to the next round, NLDS, each year.
2022 (Best-of-3, Phillies at St. Louis)
Game 1 – Trailing 2-0 heading into the ninth inning, the Phillies sent 10 batters to the plate in their final at-bat, exploding for six unanswered runs. Alec Bohm was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the first runs. A two-run single by Jean Segura gave the Phillies the lead. 7-1 final. Zack Wheeler tossed 6.1 scoreless innings and allowed only four base runners in his postseason debut.
Game 2 – Aaron Nola (6.2 innings) and the bullpen shut out the Cardinals 2-0 to earn the club its first playoff series win since 2010. Nola’s first postseason start. Bryce Harper, a 2nd-inning solo homer.
2023 (Best-of-3, Miami at Citizens Bank Park)
Game 1 – Zack Wheeler set the tone by allowing just one run over 6.2 innings in the Phillies’ 4-1 win over Miami’s Jesus Luzardo. RBI, Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott, Cristian Pache and Nick Castellano.
Game 2 – The Phillies completed a two-game series sweep over Miami and advanced to the National League Division Series with a 7-1 win. Leading 3-0 in bottom of the sixth inning, Bryson Stott put the game and the series out of reach with a first-pitch grand slam. Aaron Nola, 7 shutout innings.
