LOS ANGELES -- Before the Phillies suffered a crushing loss Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, Andrew Knapp got the silent treatment.
He hit a solo home run to center field in the eighth inning to hand the Phillies a three-run lead in an eventual 6-5 loss. It was the first homer of Knapp's career.
Knapp hit a 0-2 splitter from Dodgers right-hander Chris Hatcher a projected 401 feet, according to Statcast™. The ball left his bat at 102 mph. He circled the bases, touched home plate and returned to the dugout.
His teammates ignored him for a few moments before eventually congratulating him on his homer.
Knapp went 3-for-4 to raise his batting average to .304.
Could Knapp start earning more playing time, if he keeps hitting like this?
"If you want to play you have to hit," Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said.
