Players of the Week
Player - OF Carlos Tocci, Reading … The 21-year-old Tocci batted .429 (12-28) with four doubles, 12 RBI, a walk, a stolen base and five runs scored in seven games. His 12 RBI were tied for second-most among all Minor League players last week. Tocci collected multiple hits in four games last week, bringing his season average to .317. He ranks third in the Eastern League in both batting average and hits (110). He was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on Aug. 23, 2011.
Pitcher - LHP Nick Fanti, Lakewood … Fanti, 20, went 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA (2 ER, 13 IP) in two starts with a 0.85 WHIP (3 BB, 8 H) and 12 strikeouts. On July 17, he tossed the sixth no-hitter in BlueClaws history, and became the first Lakewood player to throw a 9.0-inning no-hitter since in 2002. Fanti faced 28 batters, retiring his final 22, as he allowed just one to reach safely in the game (a walk in the second). He also recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts. The southpaw, who also threw 8.2 no-hit innings earlier in the season, is 7-2 with a 2.60 ERA. He ranks second in the South Atlantic League in WHIP (0.94) and opponents' average (.202) while ranking third in ERA. Fanti was selected by the Phillies in the 31st round of the 2015 Draft.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division … 62-39, 2nd place … The IronPigs went 5-2 during their road trip, including four straight wins to begin last week. They improved to 29-23 in road games this season.
Top hitting performers - SS J.P. Crawford slashed .333 (9-27) with a double, triple, home run, four RBI, seven runs scored and a .556 slugging percentage in six games. He is slashing .307/.381/.667 with 12 extra-base hits in 20 games this month. … OF Andrew Pullin hit .360 (9-25) with four extra-base hits in seven games. He posted a .967 OPS. … INF/OF led the club with nine RBI and a 1.020 OPS last week.
Top pitching performers - LHP Brandon Leibrandt surrendered one unearned run over 6.0 innings in his win on July 22. He is 4-0 with a 1.61 ERA (5 ER, 28.0 IP) in five starts with Lehigh Valley this season. … RHP Zach Eflin logged a quality start on July 19, allowing just one run on five hits and three walks, striking out five over 7.0 innings. … RHP posted a 3.46 ERA (5 ER, 13.0 IP) with 10 strikeouts in two starts.
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division … 54-44, 3rd place … Reading lost two of three games to New Hampshire and then split a four-game series with Erie to finish the week 3-4. They hit six more home runs last week, bringing their league-leading total to 116.
Top hitting performers - Tocci batted .429 (12-28) with four doubles and a team-high 12 RBI, which were also tied for second-most among all minor leaguers last week. He was named Phillies Minor League Player of the Week… INF Angelo Mora was 12-for-29 (.414) with four doubles, a triple, three RBI and four multi-hit games… OF Zach Coppola posted a .481 on-base percentage, drawing six walks while batting .333 (7-21).
Top pitching performers - LHP Cole Irvin made one start for Reading, striking out 10 batters in 6.1 innings while allowing two runs, six hits and just one walk. Irvin has recorded five straight quality starts since joining Reading.
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division … 14-14, 4th place, 52-46 overall … The Threshers played six games last week, going 2-4. Clearwater's pitching staff ranks second in the Florida State League with 860 strikeouts this season.
Top hitting performers - 1B Wilson Garcia led the team with 11 total bases, batting .304 (7-23) with a double, home run, three RBI and three runs scored in six games… OF Mark Laird hit .316 (6-19) with three stolen bases in five games. He is 11-for-12 (91.7%) in stolen base attempts this season… SS Emmanuel Marrero went 5-for-16 (.313) with three steals in as many attempts during five games.
Top pitching performers - LHP Ranger Suarez posted his third 10-strikeout game of the season (first with Clearwater) in his start on July 18, logging 6.0 scoreless innings and earning the win. … RHP Edgar Garcia allowed two runs (1 ER) with seven strikeouts over a career-high 6.0 innings on July 20. … RHP Blake Quinn struck out eight batters in two relief appearances (6.0 IP).
Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League Northern Division … 13-17, 6th place, 53-47 overall … The BlueClaws went 3-4 last week, dropping three games by two or fewer runs. Lakewood logged two shutouts, adding to their league-leading 17 shutouts this season.
Top hitting performers - 1B Darick Hall batted .292 (7-24) with two doubles, a home run and four RBI in seven games. He leads the South Atlantic League in home runs (19) and RBI (73) this season. … OF Jesus Alastre hit safely in each of his five games, batting .500 (8-16). … C Henri Lartigue collected 11 total bases in seven games, slugging a triple, home run and three RBI while posting a .500 slugging percentage.

On July 17 against Charleston, he tossed a no-hitter, the sixth in BlueClaws history as he earned Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week honors. … RHP Gustavo Armas earned the win in his lone start of the week on July 20, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings and allowing three hits with eight strikeouts in his Lakewood debut. … RHP Adonis Medina won his only start on July 22, surrendering just one run on six hits and one walk, while striking out five.
Williamsport Crosscutters - New York-Penn League Pinckney Division … 18-13, 3rd place … Williamsport went 4-3, including four straight wins from July 19-22. The Crosscutters lead the New York-Penn League in slugging percentage (.402) and doubles (69) and rank second in batting average (.262) this season.
Top hitting performers - C Colby Fitch hit .438 (7-16) with two home runs, three RBI and five runs scored in five games. He posted a team-best 1.363 OPS. … 1B/OF Austin Listi went 7-for-18 (.389) with a double and home run and led the club with seven RBI in five games. … SS Nick Maton led all Crosscutters with 10 hits during the week, slashing .417/.440/.458 with two stolen bases in seven games. … INF Jake Scheiner batted .304 (7-23) with two doubles, one triple and four RBI in six games.
Top pitching performers - LHP Will Stewart allowed one run on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts over 5.2 innings on July 22. … LHP Kyle Young earned the victory in his lone start on July 20, improving to 5-0 with a 1.59 ERA (5 ER, 28.1 IP) in six starts this season. … RHP Connor Seabold recorded his first professional win on July 21, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings of relief and allowing two hits with two strikeouts.
Gulf Coast League Phillies - Gulf Coast League Northwest Division … 12-10, 2nd place … The GCL Phillies lost four of their five games. They have scored the second-most runs (123) in the Gulf Coast League this season.
Top hitting performers - 1B Quincy Nieporte batted .357 (5-14) with two doubles, an RBI, two runs scored and a .500 slugging percentage in four games. He is tied for second in the Gulf Coast League with 10 extra-base hits this season. … OF Simon Muzziotti went 4-for-16 (.250) with a triple and two RBI in four games. He is tied for the league lead with five triples this season.
Top pitching performers - LHP Jhordany Mezquita recorded six strikeouts and allowed one unearned run on two hits with one walk over 4.0 innings in his start on July 20. He has not surrendered an earned run in 9.0 innings this season, while registering 15 strikeouts in his three starts. … LHP Ethan Lindow scattered seven hits over 4.0 innings in his start on July 22, allowing two runs, three walks and striking out six.
