Phillies Minor League review for July 24-30

Players of the Week
Player - OF Jhailyn Ortiz, Williamsport … Ortiz, 18, batted .389 (7-18) with a double, three home runs, seven RBI, two walks and a 1.423 OPS in six games. He had two more multi-hit games, giving him 11 in his first 31 games so far this season. Ortiz is leading the New York-Penn League in slugging percentage (.610) and extra-base hits (17), is tied for first in home runs, second in RBI (24), on-base percentage (.426) and total bases (64) and fifth in batting average (.305). He was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on July 9, 2015.
Pitcher - LHP Bailey Falter, Lakewood… The 20-year-old Falter tossed 7.0 shutout innings in his only start of the week, yielding just three hits and striking out a season-high nine batters. He finished July with a 2.25 ERA (6 ER, 24.0 IP) and 23 strikeouts to just three walks in four starts during the month. Falter ranks fifth among South Atlantic League starters in walks per 9.0 innings (1.55) and ninth overall in ERA (3.13) this season. He was selected by the Phillies in the fifth round of the June 2015 draft.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division…65-43, 2nd place… Lehigh Valley went 3-4 last week, splitting a four-game series with Gwinnett and dropping a three-game set with Durham. They recorded their 14th shutout of the season on July 25 (2nd-most in the IL) and had a walk-off victory on July 29.
Top hitting performers - 2B Scott Kingery batted .387 (12-31) with a double, RBI, stolen base, three runs and a walk-off single in seven games. He has a 16-game hitting streak since July 14… 1B Rhys Hoskins doubled, homered twice, drove in five runs and walked eight times last week, posting a .483 on-base percentage.
Top pitching performers - RHP appeared in four games in relief, striking out seven while walking just one and allowing one run in 5.1 innings… RHP allowed one hit in 3.2 scoreless innings over two games, striking out six.
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division…57-48, 3rd place… The Fightins went 3-4 last week, winning each of their final two games by a combined score of 18-5 to take a series win in a four-game set with Hartford. They will open up August with a seven-game homestand against Harrisburg and Akron.
Top hitting performers - INF Drew Stankiewicz hit safely in all six of his games, batting .438 (7-16) with a double, two RBI and a run scored… 1B hit his 18th home run of the season and had a pair of multi-hit games for the Fightins.
Top pitching performers - RHP Tyler Viza made two starts, tossing 7.0 shutout innings with four hits and one walk on July 24, and then allowing just one run over 7.0 innings with four hits, no walks and six strikeouts on July 29… LHP Cole Irvin made two starts, combining to go 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA (4 ER, 11.1 IP).
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division…19-18, 3rd place, 57-50 overall… Clearwater played nine games in seven days, going 5-4 with three shutout victories. One of those shutouts was a 7.0-inning no-hitter from RHP Harold Arauz on July 30.
Top hitting performers - INF/OF Jan Hernandez played in nine games, hitting safely in all nine while batting .333 (9-27) with a triple, three home runs and five RBI. Hernandez became the ninth Phillies minor leaguer to reach 15 home runs this season… 1B/3B Zach Green was 9-for-26 (.346) with three doubles, a triple, an RBI and two walks… OF Cornelius Randolph hit his 10th home run of the season, drove in four runs, hit four doubles and walked twice.
Top pitching performers -RHPHarold Arauz tossed a 7.0-inning no-hitter on July 30, allowing just one baserunner (walk in the seventh) and posting a career-high 10 strikeouts. It was the first no-hitter in the Florida State League this season and third by a Phillies minor league affiliate… LHP JoJo Romero allowed just one hit in 7.0 shutout innings in his lone start. He has a 2.22 ERA (7 ER, 28.1 IP) in five starts since joining Clearwater… RHP tossed 2.0 innings in relief and did not allow a run in his Phillies organizational debut.
Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League Northern Division…15-21, T-6th place, 55-51 overall… The BlueClaws went 2-4 last week. Both of Lakewood's wins were shutouts, bringing their league-leading total to 19 this season. 
Top hitting performers - OF Mickey Moniak registered seven total bases, including a triple, with two RBI and two walks in six games. He leads the BlueClaws with five triples this season… SS Arquimedes Gamboa posted a .381 on-base percentage with a triple, two RBI, three runs scored and four walks in five games.
Top pitching performers - LHP Bailey Falter, who was selected as the Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week, earned the win in his start on July 29 after tossing 7.0 scoreless innings and striking out a season-high nine batters… RHP Sixto Sanchez went 1-0 and surrendered just five hits and three walks over two scoreless outings (11.0 IP), while recording 10 strikeouts. In four starts during July, he posted a 1.23 ERA (3 ER, 22.0 IP)… RHP Ismael Cabrera did not surrender a run in two relief appearances (4.0 IP), striking out five.
Williamsport Crosscutters - New York-Penn League Pinckney Division…21-16, 3rd place… Williamsport went 3-3, winning each of their final two games of the week. The Crosscutters lead the New York-Penn League in batting average (.261), slugging percentage (.400), doubles (80) and total bases (513) this season. 
Top hitting performers - OF Jhailyn Ortiz batted .389 (7-18) with one double, three home runs, seven RBI, four runs scored and posted a 1.423 OPS in six games. He was named as the Phillies Minor League Player of the Week… 1B Greg Pickett went 9-for-20 (.450) with a double, four RBI and six walks (.577 OBP) in six games. He ranks third in the league with a .319 batting average this season… OF Austin Listi slashed .333/.391/.571 and recorded three extra-base hits (2 2B, HR), four RBI, three stolen bases and six runs scored in six games.
Top pitching performers - RHP Julian Garcia struck out a career-high 11 batters over 5.0 hitless innings in his start on July 30, earning his third victory of the season. He is averaging 13.22 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched (47 SO, 32.0 IP) this season, the highest mark among qualifying starters in the New York-Penn League… LHP Kyle Young allowed three hits and one walk over 5.0 shutout innings with six strikeouts in his lone start of the week on July 27. He owns the second-lowest ERA (1.35) in the league this season… RHP Connor Seabold registered two strikeouts in a hitless relief appearance (2.0 IP) on July 28.
Gulf Coast League Phillies - Gulf Coast League Northwest Division…17-10, 2nd place… The GCL Phillies won all five of their games, outscoring opponents, 27-10. They are now 10-3 in home games this season.
Top hitting performers - OF Yahir Gurrola led the club with a .583 batting average (7-12) and 1.310 OPS last week. He collected a double, five RBI, four steals and scored four runs in five games… SS Jonathan Guzman hit .313 (5-16) with a home run, RBI, two stolen bases and three runs scored in four games… OF Simon Muzziotti batted .286 (4-14), including a double and triple. He leads the Gulf Coast League with six triples this season.   
Top pitching performers -RHP Ramon Russo recorded eight strikeouts and allowed just one hit and one walk over 5.0 scoreless innings in his GCL Phillies debut on July 28… LHP Anton Kuznetsov earned a win in a scoreless relief outing (2.0 IP), surrendering one hit with four strikeouts.
