PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies avoided salary arbitration with Freddy Galvis, signing the shortstop to a one-year, $2 million contract, according to a source. The club has not confirmed the deal.
Galvis was arbitration-eligible for the first time this offseason after making $513,500 in 2015. The 26-year-old switch-hitter, who had averaged 57 games over his first three years in the Majors, played in a career-high 151 for Philadelphia this past season, making 144 starts at shortstop. He batted .263/.302/.343 and set personal bests with seven home runs, 50 RBIs and 10 steals.

Signed by the Phillies out of Venezuela in 2006, Galvis debuted with the club in '12. He has spent time at short, second base, third base and left field and owns a career .241/.282/.352 batting line.
Galvis was one of three Phillies players to file for arbitration on Tuesday, along with pitchers Jeanmar Gomez and Jeremy Hellickson.
