Phils to rock all-red jerseys on select dates

February 2nd, 2016
The Phillies will go all red for the first time since 1979, donning the new Flex Base uniforms for six 2016 home games.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies will have a new look for a few games this season at Citizens Bank Park.
The team announced it will wear red alternate jerseys during six midweek games: April 14, May 18, June 8, June 20, July 6 and Aug. 4. The Phillies tout the jerseys as being part of Majestic's new Flex Base uniform system, which features a lighter weight twill and mesh panels. It reduces the weight by 10-20 percent.
"We're excited to bring a new, colorful look to Citizens Bank Park this year," Phillies senior vice president of marketing and advertising sales David Buck said in a statement. "We have great respect for the history of our uniform, so by going with a simple, classic design, we feel we've been able to balance a new look with our storied tradition."
It will be the second time the Phillies have worn red jerseys during a regular-season game. It last happened in May 1979, when the team wore an entirely all-burgundy uniform at Veterans Stadium.
