Pipeline preview: Bradley looks to build off strong outing

May 25th, 2016

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Harold Ramirez (Pirates' No. 6)
After he battled injuries during his first four professional seasons, Ramirez opened eyes this spring in the Pirates' Big League camp, going 11-for-19 while appearing in 11 games. The 21-year-old outfielder hasn't slowed down at the plate this season in his first taste of the Double-A level, as he's now hitting .300/.367/.420 through 38 games for Altoona after going 3-for-5 with his first home run of the season on Wednesday. On top of that, Ramirez has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games for the Curve, who will take on Akron and undefeated Shawn Morimando (8-0, 1.87 ERA) -- the Indians' No. 16 prospect -- at 10:30 a.m. ET on MiLB.TV.

Pitcher to watch: Archie Bradley (D-backs' No. 2)
The No. 67 overall prospect is coming off of his best start of the season for Triple-A Reno after he struck out nine hitters over a season-high eight scoreless innings in a win against Omaha on May 21. The 23-year-old right-hander has made five straight quality starts for the Aces, and he's logged at least seven innings in each of his past three turns. On the season, Bradley is 5-1 (seven starts) with a 1.99 ERA and a 47/18 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 40 2/3 innings. He'll look to continue rolling tonight when he takes the mound against New Orleans on MiLB.TV at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Duel of the day: Jordan Guerrero (White Sox' No. 6) vs. Sal Romano (Reds' No. 15), Birmingham at Pensacola
The White Sox decided to challenge Guerrero with an assignment to Double-A this season after his breakout in 2015, when he went 13-4 with a 3.08 ERA and a 148/31 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 149 innings between both Class A levels. The 21-year-old lefty got off to a shaky start in the Southern League, but has shown improvement of late, allowing two or less runs in four of his last five turns for Birmingham to lower his season ERA to 4.93. Romano, 22, also has scuffled at times in his first Double-A exposure, but has maintained his natural bat-missing ability, evidenced by his 46 strikeouts in 43 2/3 frames for the Blue Wahoos. The two southpaws are set to duel when Pensacola hosts Birmingham at 7:30 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV.
