The Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday made the following changes to their Major League coaching staff:

Andy Haines has been hired as the Hitting Coach. The 44-year-old Haines spent the last three seasons as Milwaukee’s Hitting Coach. Prior to joining the Brewers, Haines spent one season (2018) as assistant hitting coach with the Chicago Cubs and also served the Cubs as their minor league hitting coordinator from 2016-17.

Haines began his professional coaching career in the Miami Marlins system in 2008 as the GCL Marlins Hitting Coach. He also managed seven seasons in the Miami farm system from 2009-15 at Class-A Jamestown (2009), Class-A Greensboro (2010-11), Class-A Jupiter (2012-13) and Triple-A New Orleans (2014-15). Haines captured the South Atlantic League championship in 2011, advanced to the Florida State League Championship Series in 2012 and won the Arizona Fall League championship while managing Salt River in 2014.

Mike Rabelo will assume the duties as the Third Base Coach while also serving as the Major League Field Coordinator, a position he held in 2021. Rabelo joined the Pirates coaching staff as the Assistant Hitting Coach in 2020.

Radley Haddad joins the big league staff as the Game Planning and Strategy Coach. The 31-year-old Haddad spent the last five seasons as a Coaching Assistant and Bullpen Catcher with the New York Yankees after transitioning from a player to the coaching staff after the 2016 season.

Haddad played four minor league seasons as a catcher with the Yankees (2013-16) after being signed by the organization as a non-drafted free agent June 21, 2013. He also served as a player/coach with Staten Island in 2016.

First base coach Tarrik Brock, bench coach Don Kelly, pitching coach Oscar Marin, assistant hitting coach Christian Marrero, bullpen coach Justin Meccage, coach Glenn Sherlock, bullpen catcher/coaching assistant Jordan Comadena and Major League assistants Jeremy Bleich and Tim McKeithan will all return to round out the 2022 Major League coaching staff.
