ARLINGTON, Texas -- Pittsburgh infielder David Freese isn't happy leaving Globe Life Park Sunday, but Rangers fans probably are.
Freese, the hero of Game 6 for the St. Louis Cardinals against Texas in the 2011 World Series, has been on the receiving end of boos since the Pirates came to town on Friday. Freese understands where the fans are coming from.
"I don't pay attention to it, but you definitely hear it," Freese said. "It's part of the game. These fans are definitely passionate. It's all in good fun. Maybe I snuck in here this year."
The boos weren't so loud Friday in his first at-bat, but by the time he had collected three hits, Freese had evoked some bad memories for the Texas faithful. Freese added a home run in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers.
"That's one of the great things about sports," he said. "Good or unfortunate, people don't forget."
Freese's success against Texas shouldn't come as a surprise. The Texas native has 21 career RBIs in the regular season against the Rangers, the most he has against any opposing American League team. Freese is a career .276 hitter at Globe Life Park with 13 RBIs in 23 games.
"A lot of people like hitting here," Freese said. "I know those guys [the Rangers] like hitting here. It's a place you can get going and keep things going. The times I've come here, I've enjoyed it every day."

He's also enjoying his first year with the Pirates after two seasons with the Angels. Freese started at third base the first two games of the series and was at first base on Sunday. His versatility has helped, as he also made an appearance at second base.
Freese has seven hits in his last six games, feels like he's finding his groove with the Pirates.
"I'm just trying to prepare," he said. "I'm coming in every day and doing what I need to do. I'm bouncing around the lineup card, spelling [Jung Ho] Kang and playing a little at first. It's a different role, but you still have to prepare the right way and come in and do whatever's asked of you."
Worth noting
• Josh Harrison was out of the Pirates' lineup again on Sunday because of an illness. He hasn't played since leaving after six innings on Friday.
"He's sick," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said. "He's getting better. He's better today than he was yesterday."
