PITTSBURGH -- The series opener between the Pirates and Padres at PNC Park on Tuesday night did not begin as scheduled due to rain.
Approximately three minutes before the scheduled 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch -- after the lineups were announced, the national anthem had been sung and Pittsburgh's relievers had made their way to the bullpen -- the grounds crew rolled out the tarp over the infield.
The Pirates announced the game will start at 7:40 p.m. EST.
