Pirates right fielder chases down liner and makes a diving catch

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals scored one run off in the first inning on Saturday to take an early lead, but the damage could have been much worse if not for a spectacular diving catch by Pirates right fielder .
With a runner on second base and two outs, Rodriguez got a great read on a line drive off 's bat and chased the ball down in the right-center gap to end the inning. He made the catch in a full dive, with his back partially to home plate. Per Statcast™, Rodriguez covered 105 feet on the play with a 98 percent route efficiency and reached a top speed of 19.3 miles per hour. Pittsburgh lost, 6-0.
Rodriguez started in right field Saturday in place of the injured . It was the super utility man's 11th start of the season at the position.
