The White Sox clinched a postseason berth on Thursday, something that few people outside of the South Siders’ clubhouse could have expected at the start of the season.
It’s been an amazing turnaround for a club that lost a Modern Era-record 121 games in 2024 and 102 games in 2025. It might even be called a miraculous turnaround. And the White Sox have a fan who knows something about miracles.
Pope Leo XIV was asked by a reporter while aboard the papal plane Friday if he considers Chicago's 2026 season to be a miracle.
“No comment,” he said with a smile. ”Great things happen in Chicago.”
White Sox fans are hoping for great things this October. It’s not known if Pope Leo will be in attendance for any postseason games, but we know he’s not a stranger to October baseball.
