NEW ORLEANS -- The Urban Invitational, Major League Baseball's bridge to inner-city communities around the country, continued its ninth season Saturday with another round of action at the local Urban Youth Academy.
Here is a rundown of Day 2:
Prairie View A&M 11, Alcorn State 10
Prairie View and Alcorn State waged one of the most exciting games of the tourney.
Both teams had their shots to win it in the ninth inning, but Alcorn State left the bases loaded in the top half and Brashard Jones singled home the decisive run for Prairie View in the bottom half. Alcorn State spurred the late drama with a seven-run seventh inning that included a three-run homer by Cedric Walker.
Two players -- Walter Rios and Collin Carroll -- had three hits apiece in the losing effort for Alcorn State. Carson Lee turned in a 3-for-5 performance with a home run and two runs scored for Prairie View.

Louisiana Tech 15, Southern 0
Southern is having a tourney to forget. The Jaguars lost by 15 runs for the second straight day and have yet to score at this year's Urban Invitational. Southern pitchers gave up 14 hits and walked 10 batters in the rout, and Louisiana Tech got four shutout innings from starting pitcher Phillip Diehl.
Catcher Brent Diaz had two of Louisiana Tech's seven doubles, and Jonathan Washam had two hits and three RBIs in the win. Eleven players had at least one hit for Louisiana Tech, and 12 players scored. First baseman Marshall Boggs had a hit and walked three times.

University of New Orleans 11, Grambling State 8
Both teams had big bursts late in the game, but UNO's eight-run eighth inning trumped Grambling's five-run rally in the ninth. The Privateers sent two runners home on fielder's-choice plays in the decisive rally, and Ryan Calloway, Samuel Capielano and Hezekiah Randolph added RBI singles.

First baseman Tray Bell drove home three runs for Grambling, and outfielder Angel Peguero had two hits and an RBI in the losing effort. Eight UNO hitters drove in at least one run, and eight had at least one hit. UNO catcher Kyle Bracey had three hits and scored twice in the victory.
