Angels acquire INF Evan White & LHP Tyler Thomas from Atlanta

INF David Fletcher and C Max Stassi traded to Braves

ANAHEIM The Angels today acquired INF Evan White and LHP Tyler Thomas from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for INF David Fletcher and C Max Stassi.

White, 27, was selected by the Mariners in the first round of the 2017 Draft (17th overall) from the University of Kentucky. He made his Major League debut with the Mariners in 2020 and went on to win the American League Gold Glove Award at first base. He became the first rookie first baseman to win a Gold Glove in either league since the award was established in 1957.

White has appeared in 84 Major League games, all with the Mariners, going 46-for-279 (.165) with 10 home runs and 35 RBI. He has amassed a lifetime .287 (292/1018) average and .831 OPS in the minors, including 48 doubles, 10 home runs and 155 RBI. White was acquired by the Braves in a four-player trade with Seattle on December 3rd

Thomas, 27, made 24 relief appearances in the Mets system in 2023, posting a 2.86 ERA (34.2 IP – 11 ER) with 41 strikeouts split between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse. He was selected in the Triple-A portion of the 2023 Rule 5 Draft by Atlanta on December 6th.

Fletcher, 29, was originally drafted by the Angels in the sixth round of the 2015 Draft. He would go on to appear in 534 big league games for the Halos, slashing .277/.323/.359.

Stassi, 32, owns a .212 (241/1137) career average across parts of 10 big league seasons. The backstop was originally acquired by the Angels on July 31, 2019 from the Houston Astros.
