Fenway Park to Host Inaugural Beep Baseball Game on Saturday, April 20

Boston Renegades to take on Boston Strong in Baseball Game for Blind and Low Vision Athletes

April 17th, 2024

BOSTON, MA - The Boston Red Sox today announced that Fenway Park will host its first beep baseball game on Saturday, April 20th from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Beep baseball, developed for those with blindness or low vision, uses audio cues, beeping baseballs, and buzzing bases to alert and guide players through the game. The free event will feature a matchup between the Boston Renegades and Boston Strong, two local teams of blind and low vision athletes, who will face off in the outfield. Both teams will have play-by-play announcers providing audio for fans with visual impairments.

The event will also feature a resource fair in the Big Concourse with partner organizations providing information on their mission and services. Fenway Park Tours will provide a pop-up tour table with tactile experiences for fans.

Beep baseball at Fenway Park is hosted by the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Sports Management SAND (Sensory, Ambulatory, and Neuro Diversity) Network, in partnership with the National Braille Press, the Association of Blind Citizens, Adaptive Sports New England, and the Carroll Center for the Blind. Part of the club’s ongoing effort to make Fenway Park an inclusive environment open to all fans, beep baseball gives longtime athletes the opportunity to experience the historic ballpark with less crowds than a regular season game.

While beep baseball at Fenway Park is a free event, fans are encouraged to register here. Donations will be collected on-site to support the missions of the participating organizations, with a suggested donation of $10 per person.

Gates open at 12:30 p.m., and fans can enter at Gate C.
