Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers announced the following transactions prior to tonight’s series opener against the Athletics at Globe Life Field:
- Right-handed pitcher Peyton Gray placed on 15-day Injured List (right elbow inflammation), retroactive to August 30
- Right-handed pitcher Cole Winn placed on 15-day Injured List (right rotator cuff strain), retroactive to August 28
- Left-handed pitcher Robby Ahlstrom recalled from Triple-A Round Rock
- Right-handed pitcher Ben Peoples recalled from Triple-A Round Rock
Gray, 31, last appeared on Saturday at Milwaukee, permitting 2 runs (one earned) on 3 hits with one strikeout and no walks in one inning of relief. This marks the rookie’s first career appearance on a Major League Injured List. The right-hander has made 48 appearances for Texas since having his contract selected from Round Rock on April 23, going 6-0 with 9 holds, a 3.93 ERA (24 ER/55.0 IP), 16 walks, and 58 strikeouts. He is the only Major League pitcher with 6-or-more wins and 0 losses this season.
The 26-year-old Winn most recently pitched on Tuesday at Chicago-AL, allowing 2 earned runs over 1.1 innings of relief in Texas’ 11-7 defeat to the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field. In 51 games/one start for Texas in 2026, Winn has gone 5-3 with one save, 9 holds, a 5.63 ERA (30 ER/48.0 IP), and 16 walks against 49 strikeouts. This marks the second Injured List placement this season for Winn, who also missed 14 games from May 24-June 8 while on the 15-day Injured List due to right arm fatigue.
The 27-year-old Ahlstrom returns for his second Major League stint in 2026 after spending 87 days on Texas’ active roster from June 1-August 26. He was optioned to Triple-A following the Rangers’ 10-4 defeat to the White Sox on Wednesday in Chicago when he logged one inning in relief. Ahlstrom did not appear for the Express while on option. In 36 relief appearances for Texas this season, the southpaw is 3-1 with a 6.03 ERA (21 ER/31.1 IP), 10 walks, and 28 strikeouts.
Peoples, 25, is embarking on his third Major League stint this season (also July 2-August 7, August 10-13), owning a 0-1 record and 2.51 ERA (4 ER/14.1 IP) in 14 relief outings, including his Major League debut on July 4 vs. Detroit (2.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO). The right-hander pitched 4 times for Round Rock while on his most recent option, including 3 scoreless appearances: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R-ER, 2 BB, 5 SO, 1.09 WHIP.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers have 38 players on the club’s Major League roster, along with six players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP’s Carter Baumler, Jose Corniell, and Jack Leiter, LHP’s Jalen Beeks and Robert Garcia, and INF/OF Michael Helman).
