Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers announced the following transactions prior to today’s series finale against the Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field:
- Catcher Logan O’Hoppe (#4) recalled from Triple-A Round Rock
- Outfielder Jarred Kelenic designated for assignment
The 26-year-old O’Hoppe is seeking his Rangers debut after he was acquired from Los Angeles-AL on July 29, along with right-handed pitcher Chase Silseth, in exchange for minor league infielder Angel Arredondo. His most recent Major League game came with the Angels on July 28 vs. Houston, as he has batted .209 with 4 home runs and 23 RBI during his 75 games of MLB action in 2026. In 18 games/starts for Round Rock (10 at designated hitter, 8 at catcher), O’Hoppe boasts a .292/.386/.556/.942 (21-72) slash line with 3 home runs, 10 doubles, 20 RBI, and 7 walks, leading the Pacific Coast League in doubles and ranking tied for 2nd in RBI since August 1.
O’Hoppe has appeared exclusively for Los Angeles-AL in his Major League career, playing in 386 games for the Halos from 2022-26, including 68 starts at catcher in 2026 – still the highest total among all backstops on the club this season. Since 2024, O’Hoppe’s 288 starts at catcher are the 4th-most in the A.L. to Seattle’s Cal Raleigh (320), Athletics’ Shea Langeliers (299), and New York-AL’s Austin Wells (292). The West Islip, N.Y. native was originally selected by Philadelphia in the 23rd round of the 2018 MLB Draft and traded to the Angels at the 2022 deadline in exchange for outfielder Brandon Marsh.
The 27-year-old Kelenic most recently appeared last night vs. Los Angeles-AL, taking a pinch-hit plate appearance in the 8th inning. The Rangers have seven days to trade, release, or outright Kelenic to the minor leagues.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers have 38 players on the club’s Major League roster, along with six players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP’s Carter Baumler, Jose Corniell, and Jack Leiter, LHP’s Jalen Beeks and Robert Garcia, and INF/OF Michael Helman).
