September 26th, 2021

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today placed left-handed pitcher Josh Taylor on the 10-Day Injured List with a low back strain, retroactive to September 23. To fill Taylor’s spot on the active major league roster, the Red Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Eduard Bazardo from Triple-A Worcester.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Taylor, 28, has appeared in a career-high 61 games this season, posting a 3.40 ERA (18 ER/47.2 IP) with 60 strikeouts. In 52 outings since April 30, the left-hander has recorded a 2.06 ERA (9 ER/39.1 IP), a 1.17 WHIP, and a .197 opponent batting average.

Bazardo, 26, has not allowed a run in 3.0 innings over two relief appearances with Boston this season, the first outings of his major league career. Having missed most of the season with a right lat strain, he has pitched in only 11 games with Worcester, posting an 8.74 ERA (11 ER/11.1 IP).
