White Sox make four roster moves

TORONTO - Prior to tonight’s game at Toronto, the Chicago White Sox made the following four roster moves:

  • Recalled from Class AAA Charlotte (2): OF Zach DeLoach and RHP Nick Nastrini;
  • Placed on 10-Day Injured List (1): OF Eloy Jiménez with a left hamstring strain;
  • Placed on 15-Day Injured List (1): RHP Steven Wilson with a back strain (retroactive to May 20).

Nastrini, 24, is 0-2 with a 2.89 ERA (6 ER/18.2 IP), .211 (15-71) opponents average and 17 strikeouts over his last three starts with Charlotte. He has gone 0-4 with a 5.83 ERA (19 ER/29.1 IP) and 36 strikeouts (11.05 per 9.0 IP) in six starts with the Knights this season.

Nastrini, who will start tonight’s game at Toronto, made his major-league debut with the White Sox on April 15 vs. Kansas City, allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts over 5.0 IP. He is 0-2 with a 7.88 ERA (7 ER/8.0 IP) and eight strikeouts over two starts with Chicago in 2024. Nastrini is ranked by MLB.com as the White Sox No. 8 prospect.

DeLoach, 25, is slashing .263/.358/.343 (36-137) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, 18 RBI, 24 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 38 games with Charlotte this season. The left-handed hitting outfielder has reached base safely in each of his last six games, going 6-20 (.300) with two homers and five RBI.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound DeLoach has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 31. He has batted .274/.375/.445 (415-1,517) with 81 doubles, 10 triples, 53 home runs and 238 RBI in 397 career games over four minor-league seasons with the Seattle and Chicago organizations. DeLoach was acquired by the White Sox with right-handed pitcher Prelander Berroa and a Competitive Balance B selection (No. 69 overall) in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft from Seattle in exchange for right-hander Gregory Santos on February 3.

Jiménez, 27, is hitting .231/.288/.381 (31-134) with five doubles, five homers and 12 RBI over 26 games with the White Sox in 2024. He is slashing .321/.387/.500 (9-28) over his current eight-game on-base streak.

Wilson, 29, has gone 1-2 with a 2.84 ERA (6 ER/19.0 IP), .154 (10-65) opponents average and 19 strikeouts IP in 21 relief outings with Chicago this season, his first with the team. He owns a 1.08 ERA (1 ER/8.1 IP) and 10 strikeouts over his last 10 appearances.
