‘Women in Baseball’ exhibit opens Feb. 24 at Reds Hall of Fame

Dinsmore Women in Baseball Exhibit presented by Rosie Reds opens February 24

February 22nd, 2023

A new exhibit celebrating the contributions of women and girls to the game of baseball is opening to the public on Friday, February 24 at the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum presented by Dinsmore.

The Dinsmore Women in Baseball Exhibit presented by Rosie Reds explores the multi-faceted and impactful contributions women and girls have made and are making to America’s National Pastime as players, fans, broadcasters, writers, coaches, managers, owners and executives.

“This eye-opening exhibit reveals many storylines of women in baseball, not just playing, but their impact and influence on the game yesterday, today, and in the future,” said Rick Walls, Executive Director of the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. “Visitors will be captivated by this virtually unknown history that underscores the universality of the sport while being inspired by the female pioneers who have and are paving the way for others.”

The exhibit explores the many obstacles that women and girls have overcome and still struggle against to be a part of the game they love, and highlights many of the groundbreaking individuals, achievements and events that serve as inspiration to all those striving to make a dream come true.

“Since our formation in 1964, the Rosie Reds have had enthusiasm and dedication not only to the Cincinnati Reds but to our local baseball and softball communities,” said Sara Matthews, president of the Rosie Reds. “We are excited to partner with the Hall of Fame to help bring to life a story that is often left untold: the impact of women in baseball.”=

Conceived and curated by baseball historian John Kovach, the exhibit will feature over 200 artifacts in the Hall of Fame’s main gallery.

The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum presented by Dinsmore is open during the offseason Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every day during the season with extended hours.

The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum is a proud member of Museums for All. Through this national program, participants and families with SNAP/EBT cards receive free general admission to the museum.
