Mets' Clifford joins MLB's No. 82 prospect on latest Team of the Week

9:27 PM UTC

With 900 players ranked across our team Top 30 Prospect lists, there's no shortage of options for who to highlight on each edition of our Prospect Team of the Week.

Sometimes, though, a familiar face will routinely make an appearance because their performances are that good. That is the case with the Mets' Ryan Clifford, MLB's No. 4 1B prospect, who has earned honors this week for the sixth time since the Astros selected him in the 11th round of the 2022 Draft. That's the most among any active prospect -- even if he has a ways to go to catch Kyle Tucker's mark of 11.

Clifford is far from the only familiar face, as Athletics outfielder Henry Bolte (three), Giants lefty Joe Whitman (three) and Reds reliever Zach Maxwell (two) are also returning. Plus, Andrew Fischer will be familiar to anyone following the 2025 Draft or the Top 100 Prospects list.

To be eligible for the Pipeline Prospect Team of the Week, Minor League players must be ranked among their club's Top 30 prospects on Pipeline's lists. (Those in the Majors do not qualify.)

This is the Prospect Team of the Week for May 4-10:

C: Alirio Ferrebus, Clearwater Threshers (Single-A)
Phillies No. 20
.550/.545/.950, 5 G, 11-for-20, 2 HR, 2 2B, 9 RBI, 5 R, 1 K, 2 SB

Ferrebus really found his groove this week, as he bookended his series against Daytona with a pair of four-hit games. The Venezuela native went deep twice in the series opener, making this his third straight season with a multihomer game. The 20-year-old leads the Florida State League with a .368 average and ranks third with a 1.035 OPS. Not bad after he posted a .547 OPS in 44 games with the Threshers to end last year.

1B: Ryan Clifford, Syracuse Mets (Triple-A)
Mets No. 3
.409/.458/.818, 6 G, 9-for-22, 2 HR, 1 3B, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 4 R, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 SB

Clifford spent the first few series of the season mostly playing in the outfield, but as he's transitioned to playing more first base the past four weeks, his bat has really heated up. The North Carolina native, known more for his power than his speed, notched four multihit games last week and even added a triple and stolen base as his OPS rose 95 points to .800. The former Vanderbilt commit ranks 10th in Triple-A (minimum 50 PA) with a 57.1 percent hard-hit rate and is making his sixth Prospect Team of the Week appearance (two in 2025, three in 2024).

2B: Edwin Arroyo, Louisville Bats (Triple-A)
Reds No. 6
.500/.519/1.000, 6 G, 13-for-26, 3 HR, 1 3B, 2 2B, 9 RBI, 8 R, 1 K

After a torn left labrum cost him his 2024 campaign, Arroyo returned to slash just .284/.345/.371 last season. Now tanother year removed from that injury, the 2021 second-rounder is hitting better than ever. The switch hitter was a man on fire last week, with 11 hits, nine RBIs and seven runs scored in a three-game span, which brought his OPS above 1.000 for the first time ever this deep into a season.

3B: Andrew Fischer, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (High-A)
Brewers No. 5/MLB No. 82
.391/.440/.957, 5 G, 9-for-23, 3 HR, 1 3B, 1 2B, 7 RBI, 8 R, 2 BB, 7 K

Fischer's bat has been as advertised this season, as the 2025 first-rounder has followed college campaigns slugging at three Power 4 schools with a dynamic first full pro campaign. The 21-year-old took things to another level in Sunday's series finale when he set career highs in homers (two), hits (four), runs scored (four) and RBIs (five), which brought his OPS to .988. The left-handed hitter ranks second in the Midwest League in slugging (.623) and has six multihit games in his past 13 contests.

SS: Wehiwa Aloy, Frederick Keys (High-A)
Orioles No. 5
.500/.539/1.273, 6 G, 11-for-22, 5 HR, 2 2B, 9 RBI, 7 R, 3 BB, 7 K, 1 SB

Fresh off winning the Golden Spikes Award, Aloy is putting up similar numbers in pro ball. He crushed three home runs in Sunday's series finale -- his first professional multihomer game -- after posting a four-hit game on Wednesday. The Arkansas product has a .985 OPS, and his .630 slugging percentage ranks fifth in the South Atlantic League.

OF: Henry Bolte, Las Vegas Aviators (Triple-A)
Athletics No. 5
.556/.586/1.333, 6 G, 15-for-27, 5 HR, 1 3B, 4 2B, 9 RBI, 9 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 4 SB, 1 CS

Bolte is coming off one of the hottest stretches a hitter has had at any level, as the 6-foot-3 slugger hit safely in 12 straight plate appearances with nine extra-base hits. That's something nobody has achieved at the Major League level in the Expansion ERA (since 1996) and was enough to raise his OPS from .883 to 1.088, the second-best mark in the Pacific Coast League. Those electric hitting numbers may stay that way for a while, since the Athletics recalled the California native on Monday for his first stint in the Majors.

OF: Isaiah Drake, Rome Emperors (High-A)
Braves No. 30
.536/.594/1.071, 6 G, 15-for-28, 3 HR, 6 2B, 9 RBI, 13 R, 4 BB, 6 K, 4 SB

Drake is quite athletic, as you'd expect since his older brother is former NFL running back Kenyan Drake, but it's taken a while for his bat to adjust to pro ball. Consider him comfortable after last week in Asheville. The left-handed hitter posted four three-hit games in a six-day stretch while homering in each of the last three contests. He's used his 70-grade speed to great effect, as well, with four steals and 13 runs scored.

OF: RJ Schreck, Buffalo Bisons (Triple-A)
Blue Jays No. 9
.600/.667/1.080, 6 G, 15-for-25, 2 HR, 6 2B, 16 RBI, 9 R, 3 BB, 2 K

Schreck started the season 0-for-23 and was slashing .146/.308/.271 heading into this week. The Vanderbilt product made up for lost time and then some as he posted a quartet of three-hit games, with most of the knocks going for extra bases. His OPS is up to .818, just 18 points shy of his career Minor League average. Only three players in the Blue Jays organization have posted five-RBI games this season, and Schreck did it on consecutive days Wednesday and Thursday.

LHP: Joe Whitman, Richmond Flying Squirrels (Double-A)
Giants No. 26
2-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 11 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 15 K, 0.64 WHIP

Whitman is making his third appearance on a Prospect Team of the Week after previously doing so in September 2023 and May 2025. The crafty southpaw made a pair of scoreless starts as he tied (seven) and then set (eight) his season high in strikeouts. The 69th overall pick in 2023 has consistently picked up whiffs but had trouble keeping runners off base, so it was a big development that he gave up just seven baserunners across 11 innings last week.

RHP: Nate Snead, Tri-Cities Dust Devils (High-A)
Angels No. 19
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 0.00 WHIP

The Angels believed in Snead's triple-digit heat enough to draft him 105th overall last year and develop him as a starter, and you can see the vision after his fifth pro start. The 6-foot-2 righty fired six perfect innings on just 58 pitches as he struck out six. The Tennessee product got hit around in his early outings, but his 28 strikeouts to just six walks in 23 1/3 innings bode well for him.

RP: Zach Maxwell, Louisville Bats (Triple-A)
Reds No. 17
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 1 SV, 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 0.00 WHIP

Affectionately known as "Big Sugar" for his 6-foot-6, 275-pound frame, Maxwell is an intimidating force at the end of the bullpen. The right-hander is up to 20 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings this season after whiffing three in a two-inning save on Friday. He did hit one batter in a clean inning on Wednesday, but he erased that baserunner one plate appearance later on a double play. The Georgia Tech product previously made a Prospect Team of the Week in April 2024.
