ARLINGTON -- Rangers radio broadcaster Eric Nadel is hosting a benefit concert on Saturday for Dallas-based Focus on Teens.
Josh Weathers and The True Endeavors, Daphne Willis, and the Hendersons, a Fort Worth-based band, will headline the Benefit Blowout for Homeless Teens to be held at Shipping and Receiving, a live music venue at 201 S. Calhoun in Fort Worth.
Doors open at 6 p.m. CT, and the evening will begin with a silent auction featuring autographed sports memorabilia, gift cards from local restaurants, exquisite apparel, accessories, and more. For tickets go online to prekindle.com.
"Teen homelessness is a real problem in Texas, and the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex seems to have been hit the hardest," Nadel said. "Focus on Teens, however, has spent the last three years fighting this issue from the front lines in Dallas -- but now they plan on taking their fight westward, to Fort Worth where over 1,700 kids are currently living without a home, but are still going to school."
Nadel has raised thousands of dollars for homeless teens in the past five years with his annual birthday party/fundraiser at the Kessler Theater in Dallas. Saturday's concert marks the expansion of his efforts into Fort Worth.
Focus on Teens is a non-profit organization in DFW that not only helps homeless teenagers find housing, but it also empowers them through their educational program. The four-part holistic program centers on the emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual dimensions of the client.
Keith Price is the founder. Before Focus on Teens, Price held the executive director position with Austin Street Center. While he recognized the importance of shelters and food banks, Price knew that he could take his advocacy for the homeless even further.
Aside from the programs offered by Focus on Teens, money raised by the organization also funds food pantries in schools across Dallas and Fort Worth. With the help of sponsors, Focus on Teens plans to grow these programs exponentially over the next few years.
Sponsorship packages are available ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. The benefits include VIP access, signed baseballs by the Rangers and Nadel, goody bags full of surprises, preferred seating, valet parking, and more. These sponsorship packages generate a majority of the revenue from fundraising events like this and make it possible for Focus on Teens to continue the fight against teen homelessness.
