Gallo delivers 3-run walk-off HR to beat A's

ARLINGTON -- For a second straight night, the Rangers won on a walk-off, three-run home run, this time off the bat of Joey Gallo to beat the A's, 5-2, at Globe Life Park on Friday.
The Rangers have now won four in a row. This rally came against A's reliever , after held the Rangers to one run in seven innings and pitched a scoreless eighth.
"Amazing win for us," Rangers shortstop said. "As soon as the leadoff guy got on [a single by ], everybody on the bench started yelling at each other."

Mike Napoli tied the game with a sacrifice fly, and followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Gallo worked the count full against Casilla, and he ended the game with a projected 404-foot home run, according to Statcast™, that left the bat at 113 mph and hit off the right-field foul pole.
"Start of the ninth inning, we started having good at-bats and getting hits, and running the bases well, you could feel it," Gallo said. "As I went to the plate, you could hear the dugout yelling and screaming. We had the same feeling as last night."
Oakland's offense came out of the eighth spot in their order. Matt Joyce gave them a 1-0 lead with a fifth-inning home run off Rangers starter . After Texas tied it, , pinch-hitting for Joyce, drove home another run with an RBI double in the seventh off reliever .

"When he's swinging good, he can hit anybody," A's manager Bob Melvin said of Canha. "It was a time that's big, now it's a one-run game, we have our bullpen in the game, and we feel like we have a chance to put it away, and at the time it was a huge hit."
Cashner is still looking for his first win with the Rangers after allowing just one run over six innings. The Rangers are averaging 1.62 runs of support per nine innings when he is on the mound through six starts.

Hahn struck out three over his seven strong innings, dropping his ERA to 2.74 on the season while allowing four hits and walking three.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Squeeze nets run: The Rangers executed the safety squeeze for their first run in the fifth with Gomez at third and Gallo at first. With no outs, dropped a bunt in front of the plate. Gomez didn't break until the ball was bunted, but he was able to slide in ahead of Hahn's flip and around catcher 's tag.
"It was a bad toss on my part," Hahn said. "I needed to get it up a little more, and it was a good slide by Gomez. I made it hard for Vogt to get back around and get the tag on him."

Lucroy can't hold on: The Rangers almost had a play at the plate on Canha's go-ahead double. DeShields bobbled the ball while digging it out of the left-fielder corner, but the Rangers still had a chance to get at the plate. Andrus made a strong throw, but Lucroy dropped the ball trying to make a sweeping tag.

REPLAY REVIEW
The Rangers got a big reversal on a call in the first inning. A's center fielder led off with a single and was initially ruled safe in an attempt to steal second. The Rangers challenged the call, and after video showed was able to apply the tag before Davis reached second, the call was reversed.

WHAT'S NEXT
Athletics: will make his third start of the season at 5:05 p.m. PT against the Rangers on Friday, after a lat injury kept him out in April. Gray has always been tough on the Rangers, with an 8-3 career record and 2.51 ERA in 12 starts against Texas. He's 6-0 with a 1.45 ERA at Globe Life Park.
