Rangers reinstate Kela, place Diekman on DL

July 15th, 2016

The Rangers reinstated right-hander from the 60-day disabled list Friday before their series opener against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
To make room for Kela on the 25-man roster, left-hander was placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to July 6, with a lacerated left index finger. Left-hander (left shoulder inflammation) was transferred to the 60-day DL to make room for Kela on the 40-man roster.
Kela was placed on the DL in April after having surgery to remove a bone spur in his right elbow. He made four rehab relief appearances for Triple-A Round Rock and Double-A Frisco, throwing four shutout innings with seven strikeouts and zero walks. He had a 7.11 ERA in seven games for the Rangers before going on the DL.
Diekman, who is 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA in 39 relief appearances, is eligible to return from the DL on Thursday.
